I deleted this journal. then undeleted this journal.

this was today in two bullet points:

  • Saw the best concert I've ever seen. (Nine Inch Nails 'Lights in the Sky' tour beat out the previous title holder - Nine Inch Nails 'Fragility' tour)

  • Met up with [info]threv, there is maybe hope for a laptop battle this year?

congratz0rs to all the battlez0rs. Probably none of them are reading this but whatev.

To the winners, see you at the Finals!

To everyone else, come Friday, October 19th!

(That may potentially be the night before Bleichtoberfest... but hey, at least it isn't Saturday... so you can come to both, including Bleichnerz0rs (mebbe).)

hooray!1

If you wanna hear my previous laptop battle stuff, check out (and potentially friend) my myspace music thinger:

Going to be performing in the Atlanta Laptop Battle(s?) again - its July 9th.

Updated my incredibly bland myspace music page:

Friend me if you wanna. I have a standing policy of not initiating friendship with my music page due to a flood of obnoxious band invites (now replaced by obnoxious porn spam invites).

Got a new midi controller on the way.

My goal this year is to have a less complicated approach, but still have complicated music. Hopefully Ableton Live with Pluggo will help with this (talked about this after the last battle but wasn't motivated to make any progress). Might end up using Reason, too, since I (actually own a license and) have a better laptop now that is less likely to choke (it even has battery life!).

Wow, I'm sort of glad I didn't run out and get this immediately. (pre-order aside... plus I got my money back anyway). Maybe it will be good in a few months after they fix everything.

Meanwhile, FFXII is fucking awesome.

Now, I just need money for Guitar Hero 2.

and another SG, of course.
» new plan:
Old Setup:
Reason 3.0, Max/MSP

First idea for new setup:
Reason 3.0, Ableton Live, Max/MSP

Current idea for new setup:
Reason 3.0, Ableton Live, Max/MSP, Pluggo

Pluggo is like Max/MSP in plug-in form (I think). This will allow me to avoid having to code an 'interface' between Max/MSP and Live, which is where I am currently stuck. Its fun and all, but it isn't fucking working. I can't even get the tutorial I linked to before working, and I consider myself to be reasonably proficient at Max/MSP at this point.

The only thing I am unsure of is if I can make Midi 'Plug-ins' with Pluggo... I know that Ableton Live has MIDI plugins (randomization, etc), which is awesome... and it would be even more awesome to write my own.

Random: Charlie Clouser (from previously mentioned NIN remix) wrote all three Saw soundtracks.

AND Danny Lohner (ex-NIN bassist, from other previously mentioned NIN remix) performed on the soundtracks for Saw I and II.

too bad Saw II and III were serious fuck-ups compared to the first one film-wise. (I saw II, which was bad... and I'm just guessing III was.)

EDIT: "I saw II" HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH time to sleep.

I love this remix. The song after it is awful, though. (Metal)

EDIT: I should add that the Charlie Clouser remix of Starfuckers, Inc. is fucking amazing also. (I listened to that next.)

I love that Primus has their own genre in MP3 ID3 tags. Like not just the crazy all-inclusive list of genres that has evolved over the years, but right when MP3s started they were their own genre.

wtg Les.
» the REAL Halloween
Is anyone doing anything next Tuesday for ACTUAL Halloween? I have to work all weekend (as usual) so won't get to go to the fun stuff Fri/Sat until after midnight. Which upon typing, isn't all that bad really, because I won't have to be at work the next day until 4 PM, and people will be drunk enough by midnight to not care that I'm not in costume.

testing... one, two... testing... aw, fuck it.

*beats on microphone*

there we go.
